As part of the academic activities organized by NYU Florence restart from September the conferences of the La Pietra Dialogues.
A series of meetings will be dedicated to Europe, “EU in focus: whats EU is he? why does it matter? “and, in this cycle, the conference” Transatlantic Trade, the Environment and Competing Interests ” will be organized on Monday, October 3rd starting at 6 pm in Villa Sassetti. It will be an occasion to think over and discuss about the TTPI agreement, which is working for a long time the two political fronts but which has increased its impact on democracy and on environmental quality standards and work.
This negotiation constitutes a perfect case of “global advocacy” with differing interests of global regulators, companies and civil society actors. The first seem to sweat in confirming their supremacy as a global regolamaker, the latter through the lobbying trying to get favorable rules for trade in goods and services, third parties are mobilizing the anti-TTIP support on social media, in national parliaments and in the streets.
