A quanto pare lobby, lobbista, e tutte le varie declinazioni del termine non vanno più bene. Benché condotto sul filo dell’ironia, il dibattito sull’opportunità di cambiare nome si arricchisce ogni giorno di nuovi contenuti.
Il New York Times finora ha fatto la proposta più interessante: Congress Plus. Con questa motivazione: We suggest “Congress Plus” as a more truthful name for an industry that employs more than 400 former members of the Senate and House, plus former Congressional staff members estimated in one study to total 5,400 people over a recent 10-year period. Not to mention untold dozens of lobbyists who smartly shift back and forth to Congressional committee posts as the electoral pendulum makes partisan swings that prove increasingly lucrative for experienced insiders.
Non fa una piega, ed è in ottima compagnia. L’operazione rebrand ha sfornato finora alcuni grandi classici come: “Government Relations”, “Corporate Congress”, “Special Interest Wrangler”, “Legislative Influencer”; proposte originali tipo “Lawfluencers”; e addirittura definizioni bizzarre come “Senate Sherpa” o “Government Guru”.
Come se bastasse davvero solo il nome a cambiare le cose.
